House of Glass has served the Chicagoland area since 1975. Our experienced team of skilled professionals provides expert installation and replacement of glass, windows and mirrors for residential, commercial and industrial customers.
Custom shower enclosures vary based on glass thickness, hardware, layout, and installation complexity. Instead of vague “starting at” prices, we come to your home, measure precisely, discuss design options, and provide a detailed written estimate—no surprises, no pressure.
Why customers choose us:
We don’t push unnecessary features, although we can provide the latest in luxury design to suit your needs. We explain what actually matters for durability, safety, and long-term performance so you can make a confident decision.
Most standard window single pane glass replacements are completed within a few days, and emergency breakage can often be secured the same day. For foggy or broken insulated or double-pane glass units, the process requires a little more time. These units are custom-ordered to size and energy efficiency requirements, and are manufactured in a facility. It typically takes 7-10 business days to receive these custom units, with installation often taking place the day after we receive them.
Once we assess the damage, we handle ordering, fabrication, and installation—keeping you informed at every step.
What sets us apart:
We don’t leave you waiting without answers. You’ll know exactly what’s happening and when your glass will be replaced.
We handle everything—measurement, fabrication, and professional installation.
If you’re able to provide rough measurements, that can help us provide an initial estimate. However, glass size is only one part of the equation. Energy-efficiency requirements, glass type, thickness, and application all factor into proper pricing and performance.
Our experienced estimators account for these variables and ensure everything is specified correctly. While homeowner measurements can be useful for ballpark pricing, our professionals will always personally verify all measurements and details before any glass is ordered.
Glass is unforgiving. Even small measurement errors can result in fit issues, leaks, or costly delays—which is why we never rely on homeowner measurements for final fabrication.
Why this matters:
One company. One point of responsibility. Zero finger-pointing.
We offer a wide range of glass options, including:
Our approach:
We help you choose glass based on how you actually live, not just what looks good in a showroom.
Yes—and in many cases, it’s required by code.
Tempered glass is designed to break safely and is significantly stronger than standard glass. We use code-compliant safety glass for all applications where it’s required, including showers, doors, and table tops.
Peace of mind factor:
We don’t cut corners on safety—ever.
In many cases, yes.
We regularly replace glass in older windows, custom furniture, and specialty pieces. If an exact match isn’t possible, we’ll explain your options clearly and recommend the closest, most practical solution.
What customers appreciate:
We’re problem-solvers, not salespeople. If something can be fixed without full replacement, we’ll tell you.
Yes. We offer a one-year craftsmanship warranty, and most of our materials carry manufacturer’s warranties.
If there’s ever an issue related to our installation or supplied glass, we make it right.
Trust signal:
If a company won’t stand behind their work, that tells you everything you need to know. We do.
We’ll give you clear care instructions based on your specific glass type. For most glass, we recommend our CRL glass-specific cleaner.
For showers, proper cleaning habits dramatically reduce water spots and buildup. We can also discuss protective coatings that make maintenance easier over time. Due to the harsh chemicals in most commonly-used glass cleaners, we do not recommend usage of these products in showers.
Customer benefit:
Your glass should look great years from now—not just on install day.
Because we combine experience, precision, and transparency.
Bottom line:
We do what we say we’ll do—and we do it well. That’s why most of our business comes from repeat customers and referrals.
Frameless shower enclosures, by design, cannot be guaranteed to be completely leak-free. However, proper layout and design play a major role in minimizing water escape. We take great care in evaluating each shower’s configuration and optimizing the glass layout to significantly reduce the likelihood of leaks.

It can! A failed seal allows condensation to build up between the panes of glass. Over time, that moisture can slowly seep into a wood window frame and cause rotting. If you have vinyl frames, the dampness can cause mold growth. Click here to learn more.
Form AND Function: properly maintained windows with insulated units minimize heat transfer and protect your home. Failed seals not only look unsightly, but they actually cost you money in increased energy bills and expose your home and family to hidden dangers.
